I am really sorry, I was hoping to do a full episode rehashing this episode just like I have for the previous eight episodes, but I just can’t. I can not spend time rehashing three young couples go through the normal conflicts that happen in a young marriage, whether they be “arranged” weddings or those that are based on love.

This week was a double-episode, after the decision not to air an episode last week in the wake of the events in Orlando, Florida, so Darone had a lot to recap… or so you would think. Darone does recap what happened in each episode, but still is able to finish the entire podcast in less than eighteen minutes.

This week, rather than inviting his wife to discuss the issue of Niddah, a topic that Ben and Vicki are dealing with in this episode, Darone invites you to listen to a great episode of The Joy of Text a podcast of Jewish Public Media. The podcast, was there latest, entitled Navigating Niddah and is an hour-long deep-dig into the issues surrounding the strictures of Niddah.

This week, in response to the attack in Orlando, Florida, FYI chose not to air the newest episode of Arranged. Instead of skipping the week, host Darone Ruskay brings in Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay, Associate Dean of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School (and his “as he mentioned they had a non-traditional traditional Jewish wedding” wife), to discuss the decision that they had made when they got married to use a Brit Ahuvim rather than a Ketubah as their wedding contract. Rabbi Ruskay references the work of Rachel Adler, author of Engendering Judaism: An Inclusive Theology and Ethics and the continued work done by her son and daughter-in-law as they took the Brit Ahuvim to 2.0.
